Mankatha Release date

Ajith's 50th film Mankatha is hurtling towards the finish line. The final schedule will be wrapped up in Hyderabad by the end of this month. Following this, post - production work will begin in earnest. And the film will be ready for release in July.

The film is a multi - starrer with the likes of Arjun, Vaibhav, Premji Amaren, Trisha, Andrea, Lakshmi Rai, and Anjali as part of the cast. Music is by Yuvan Shankar Raja and a single released is already rocking the charts. The film is an entertaining take on gambling and its multifarious operations.

Last Schedule Payment Not Made to Mankatha Team

Ajith rides a Honda 1000 CC Motorbike on a highway at a speed of 180-220 KMPH for Mankatha. He puts his signature on 5000 posters instead of signing only once to have it copied to the others. Venkat Prabhu keeps sharing photos and news on his social networking pages.

All these may be happening but the crew of Mankatha isn’t the happiest in regard to their scheduled payments. Mankatha is produced by Dhayanidhi Alagiri for Cloud Nine Movies. The production house had already told the cast, crew and technicians that payment for the last schedule would be made after the elections results.

The elections results were out last week which did not go well at all for the DMK. The Party won only 23 seats out of 234, which has changed the fortunes of the Mankatha team. The payment for the last schedule is not made yet and the first to not cooperate in the making is Yuvan Shankar Raja.

According to sources, Yuvan has declared that he would not work until the payment was made which results in the delay of the audio launch. Cloud Nine Movies may be expected to make the payment before others stop working on the project as a mark of protest!

Ajith is a Dare Devil

Thala Ajith is well known for his boldness when it comes to word or deeds. Now the news is that Ajith has drove a 1000 cc Honda bike on a National Highway in the north. This sequence was shot for Mankatha. Venkat Prabhu accompanied Ajith to test the sequence actual. Ajith zoomed at a speed of 180 kmph which might have reeled Venkat Prabhu’s head.

So Venkat Prabhu was little stirred and did not accompany Thala in his second test drive. The most invigorating part is that Thala drove the bike at the speed of 220 kmph and that too without wearing helmet. Ajith is a real dare devil.

Venkat ‘bets’ on Ajith

Thala Ajith’s 50th film, Mankatha with director Venkat Prabhu, is one of the most talked-about films in Kollywood. And right from the story of the film to Ajith’s character and look in it, every aspect of the film seems to be widely discussed by both the media and the audience.
When we asked Venkat Prabhu if Mankatha is about betting, he said, “Yes, betting is an important element in the film. However, we haven’t concentrated only on betting during cricket matches. There are several other forms of betting that will find a prominent place in the film.” He added, “And I’ve bet on Ajith to make a hit out of this film! The highlight of the film is that the second half takes place in just one day. That’s probably why Ajith loves the interval block and the second half.” Venkat is all set to shoot the climax of the film near Hyderabad soon. “I will finish Ajith’s remaining portions first because he wants to start gymming. He has to lose weight for Billa 2 and look very young and dashing!” he said.

Ajith’s Signs 5000 ‘Mankatha’ Posters, Literally!

Ultimate Star Ajith starrer ‘Mankatha’ seems to be the most expected movie so far this year. Recently, the movie’s trailer was launched during ‘Azhagar Samiyin Kudhirai’ in multiplexes and audience roared with joy watching their thala on big screen.

Sony BMG will be launching the audio of ‘Mankatha’ on May 20. The CD will have a single track ‘Vilayadu Mankatha…’ and is priced at Rs 49, and wait, that’s not that. The CDs come with a poster signed by thala Ajith itself! It’s no usual signature where a hero signs one poster and the rest are digitalized, Ajith wanted to please his fans and is using all his breaks in three days and is signing all the 5000 posters by himself! The poster has him donning a look never seen before and is a landscape one. It's a look that will prove the buzz that was making rounds recently about the movie. Now we’re sure fans will be thronging to music stores on May 20 not just for Yuvan's score but to get a glimpse of their thala and bag his autographed poster...

The song is sung by Yuvan Shankar Raja, Ranjith, Premji Amaran, Anita and Sucharitha, a new talent introduced by Yuvan.  The song is set in Bangkok in a club – Club Hollywood, and was shot for four consecutive days.

Yuvan was also present during the shoot although he did not come on screen and dancers from Bombay and Bangkok danced for the peppy number. The disco club’s real speaker was utilized that made dancers shake their legs even off screen! We also hear that a lot of the crowd in the song are people who actually visited the club during the shoot, giving it a more ‘reality’ feel.

Paring with a song set in a club, Yuvan has had his lyrics in a mix of Tamil, Hindi and English. While Gangai Amaran penned the Tamil parts, Yuvan worked on the English and Sucharitha on the Hindi lines.

If sources are to be believed, the single song of Mankatha will be released on May 20th.
Sony Music India commented "hey all – for all of you who have been asking us about the Mankatha single – it will be released next Friday on 20th May"

The single CD track ‘Vilayaadu Mankatha’ is tagged with a price of Rs. 49/- with posters autographed by Ajith Kumar. The song is crooned by Yuvan Shankar Raja, Ranjith, Premgi Amaran, Anita and Suchitra.

‘Mankatha’ story: Official version

Even as the media working overtime guessing the story of ‘Mankatha’, Ajith’s 50th venture, director of the film Venkat Prabhu has come out with an explanation on what the movie is all about.

“Yes, the basic knot of the script is gambling. But it is not true that the film revolves entirely on cricket betting. It will deal about all sorts of gambling that are taking place,” said the filmmaker.

On the role played by Arjun in the film, he said, “Since he is playing a cop who is behind Ajith, the scenes in which he appear will be the highlight of the film. In one particular scene, Ajith would call him Action King.”

Happy about the Thala dissolving all his fan clubs, Venkat Prabhu said, “It is a very good and bold decision. He will now be admired by fans of all actors. Thala is always straight forward and honest.”

A surprise element in Ajith’s Mankatha has been unwrapped. Sources reveal that Ajith will portray a dual role in Mankatha. Thala will play a tough cop in the film, the other character would be that of a commoner.

It may be noted that Mankatha is Ajith’s next to be released movie. The music is scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The film is directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by Dhayanidhi Alagiri.

Yuvan Shankar Raja has finished composing the single song of Mankatha. It has been sent to UK for mastering and it will be handed over to Sony for release today.  Sony will take a few days to package and release the song. Director Venkat Prabhu quoted "Yuvan giving the single track to Sony today!! Cos he sent it to Uk for mastering!! Sony will take few days to package it and release!!".

Just One Song

Mankatha's audio will be unvieled soon.

Before that the director Venkat Prabhu is planning to release just one song from the film's album. The talented director is determined to infuse some innovation into his audio release.

He explains, “Lots of audio launch functions are happening these days. I am just trying to do mine differently. I plan to release just one song from the film in the digital medium, so that it can be used for ring tones and caller tunes. I'm also thinking about releasing one song in an audio CD and then releasing the rest of the songs. That single song may create an impact. The producers are looking for a way to make this idea possible. Listening to songs one by one, makes a lot of difference.“

Asked which song from the film will be released, he reveals, “It will be Ajith's introduction song in the film -hope it rocks!“

Mankatha trailer release, this Friday!

Mankatha’s trailer will hit the theatres this Friday. According to Praveen, editor of Mankatha, the trailer will be screened during the interval of Azhagar Saamiyin Kudirai. Mankatha trailer, sources say, has come out exceptionally well and the fans are also eager to catch a glimpse of it ever since the song trailer was released on May 1^st 2011.
This week turns out to be double special for the Mankatha team, as a single track is also due to be released. STR’s Vaanam also had a single track released before the audio launch and this turned out to be a huge success.

Likewise, Mankatha’s single release is also expected to bring in the maximum publicity.

Mankatha - Parallel story telling

An article about parallel story telling has been published in Coimbatore times today (May-04-2011). It is specified that Mankatha might have a parallel way of story telling similar to "Vaanam","Ayutha Ezhutu" and "Saroja". A young filmmaker in Tamil, who is all set to do a film on the same pattern said, "The format of multiple storylines criss-crossing is nothing new; it will work if you make multi-starrers. I hear that Ajith sir's Mankatha too has a similar style of story telling. The introduction of assorted characters gives us an opportunity to rope many saleable stars. Such films may have a limited appeal, but in the long run, it will catch on".

‘Mankatha’, May 10, Bangkok

A lengthy fight sequence alone is left to be shot to complete ‘Mankatha’, Thala Ajith’s 50th film, and director Venkat Prabhu is planning big for it.

Now we have more updates. The stunt scene will be shot in Bangkok from May 10 and select members of ‘Mankatha’ crew will leave for the foreign location soon. “The last schedule will be completed in one go,” sources say.

Ajith is playing Vinayak Mahadevan in ‘Mankatha’, a character which comes with negative shades. Arjun plays the cop behind, who wants to nab Vinayak Mahadevan for the ‘crimes’ he committed.

“Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music is one of the major highlights of the film. The teaser song “Vilayadu Mankatha…”, which was released on the net for Ajith’s birthday, is just a proof to it,” add sources.
