Mankatha Tentative Release Date

Following a perfect strategy of shooting schedule, Venkat Prabhu has managed to wrap up ‘Mankatha’ on time. Ajith’s sports Clooney look in ‘Mankatha’

Irrespective of the age of the heroes, Kollywood has always gone to great heights to preserve the hero with an ever-young look. The moviegoers too love to see their hero with a flawless face and hair that waves in the air. Ajith has been a trend setter for many styles in Kollywood and he is undoubtedly the only hero who looks handsome in any attire he sports. Now in ‘Mankatha’ he will sport a look which director Venkat Prabhu is confident will be a trendsetter in films that follow.

Some news which has leaked from the ‘Mankatha’ team, which has returned from shooting in Mumbai, has revealed that Trisha plays Saniana, the daughter of a Mumbai goon who rules the slums of Dharavi. Our hero Ajith plays Vinayak. The director and hero were looking for a new look for the protagonist, trying out many styles and finally it seems Ajith suggested a new look, which was the casual salt and pepper hairstyle he usually sports. The director immediately seems to have liked the look and immediately gave it his thumbs up!
Now the fans will see their “Thala” sporting this salt and pepper hairstyle throughout the film. Venkat has also opined that this hairdo goes well with the character that Ajith portrays. It reminds us the George Clooney look. Clooney has been voted many times by People’s magazine as the sexiest man alive! With Ajith sporting a similar look we can be pretty sure it is going to look natural and be a hit with the audience.

Director Venkat Prabhu is also assisting the film’s editing process with Yuvan working on the music portions. Venkat Prabhu is believed to be quite excited about this project because he has shot the film with his favorite hero. The entire team of ‘Mankatha’ is confident of the film being welcomed by the Tamil audience worldwide.

Mankatha Updates

There is a lot of hype after we let you know about the salt and peppery look of Ajith in ‘Mankatha.’ A similar one sported by the oh-so-handsome Hollywood actor George Clooney. Now we will let you know who precisely the brain behind the natural look of Ajith in ‘Mankatha’ is. She grabbed the attention of the audience through her creative interpretation of the characters’ looks in films like ‘Saroja,’, ‘Villu,’ ‘Abhiyum Naanum’ and ‘Goa.’

We are discussing costume designer Vasuki Bhasker.

When director Venkat Prabhu was concerned about the way the protagonist was supposed to look he seems to have voiced his concern to Vasuki. Ajith plays the role of a mafia with a laid back attitude. Since Venkat wanted an all new look which has not been seen so far in Tamil films, Vasuki came up with a whole lot of new looks and styles. Then finally she landed on this casual but appealing look for Ajith, and when they tried it on the actor he looked handsome, as always! Director Venkat and Ajith seem to have been pleased with this look and agreed to go ahead with it.

Vasuki has revealed that Venkat Prabhu is very easy going person and can be easily approached. Speaking on the heroine’s look Vasuki has revealed that for Trisha she has played with colours. Her outfits look very cheerful and at the same time very ethnic. Trisha who is a thorough professional is sure to carry off any look with ease and look lovely on screen.

The fans of ‘Thala’ have been stumped by the new look for their hero through some teaser posters which have been released are eagerly waiting for the film to hit theatres. Insiders reveal that ‘Mankatha’ will hit theatres by June, just ahead of the monsoons.

Surprise came knocking on Vasuki’s door with an offer to work with Director Bala; this is the first time the director has hired a costume director to work for in his upcoming film ‘Avan Ivan’ starring Arya and Vishal. Director Bala who usually designs and conceptualizes his characters’ looks, this time, although he already had a concept for the costumes, he seems to have sat with Vasuki and together they kept getting the looks better and more appropriate for the characters. Vasuki also expressed that Bala is very open to new ideas and that she is honoured to have worked with him.

Kudos to you Vasuki! We would love to see you styling the outfits of our men and women of Kollywood, each with a unique touch which will take your work to greater heights!

Mankatha Updates

This summer is getting hotter by the day, but the good news for the film-fanatic crowd in Tamil Nadu is that there are many films banking on big expectations lining up to hit theatres when the heat is at its peak! We bring good news to all Ajith fans out there. Recently the director of ‘Mankatha’ Venkat Prabhu opened up on his upcoming magnum opus with Ajith playing the lead. This is also “Thala’s” 50th innings in the Tamil industry.

So what is so big about ‘Mankatha’?
For one the director has confirmed that this film will see Ajith as Vinayak Mahadevan, in a full-fledged negative character for the first time ever. Something to the likes of SRK’s character in ‘Baazighar.’ And the cat is out of the bag! Unlike the other films which have a flashback leading to the circumstances on why the hero turned a villain this film does not have any such scenes nor does it see the hero delivering high-decibel punch dialogues.

Another USP of ‘Mankatha’ is the huge star cast that the film has. Though initially it was just the lead star Ajith who was confirmed later Arjun, Trisha, Lakshmi Rai, Anjali, singer-actress Andrea, Vaibhav and Jayaprakash found their way into the film. Venkat has also revealed that the film is about the catch-me-if-you-can competition between Ajith and Arjun. The latter plays a role similar to a special branch CID. While the first half of the film deals with a problem and the people affected by it, the second half finds a solution to the problem. The second part depicts the happenings of a single day.

Right from the salt and peppery natural look that Ajith sports to the dance and stunt sequences he has worked hard and it has shown through out the film, says Venkat complementing the actor. The director also opines that after the release of ‘Mankatha’ men might opt out dying their hair and go in for the ‘salt n pepper’ look sported by the hero in the film.

Post ‘Nayakan’ the camera moves in and out of crampy and crooked lanes of Dharavi in ‘Mankatha’. The slum, with a lot of Tamil population, came out in full force to have a glimpse of Ajith and was screaming the actor’s name throughout the shoot. Though it was overwhelming for the cast and crew, at times it was tough to shoot the film recalls the director. Though he had never imagined that he would make a film with a big star cast here he is with ‘Mankatha,’ which will be a double bonanza for the fans of Ajith declares the captain of team ‘Mankatha,’ Venkat Prabhu!

Praise For Ajith

The unit of Mankatha, Ajith’s golden jubilee flick directed by Venkat Prabhu, has just completed a hectic schedule in Mumbai and returned to the city.

Sources say that a segment of the story takes place in Mumbai’s Dharavi slums and Trisha portrays Sanjana, the daughter of a mafia don from Dharavi, while Ajith plays Vinayak, sporting a salt-and-pepper hairstyle like George Clooney in Ocean’s 11.

Speaking to DC, Venkat Prabhu said, “Like I said earlier, Ajith and I decided to go in for a new styling in terms of his look and it was finally sir who suggested this George Clooney look. Incidentally it goes well with the character Vinayak in the movie. I am confident that his look will click in a very big way once the movie is released.”

He clears the misconception that it is a gangster film, “Mankatha is a traditional card game played in the state by betting sums of money. Similarly, here too, it’s about different people trying to do something and how everything changes at a particular point.” Though he was tightlipped about the theme, sources say that it is about cricket betting during the IPL season.

Meanwhile, Prabhu is simultaneously editing the portions canned so far and Yuvan Shankar Raja has also started his recording work. The director was ecstatic when his producer Dhayanidhi Alagiri was all praise for him after watching the rough cuts of Mankatha. “He is a great fan of Ajith. Soon after watching the clippings, he got so excited that he hugged me and remarked ‘Thala Thala Than’.”
